The current position: Widows and Single Mothers
In the cosmopolitan areas, widows and single mothers will face more difficulties from work and family than the normal family. With the divorce rate increasing, the number of single mothers is increasing, too, especially in the big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, etc. For those middle-aged, divorced women, remarriage is so difficult to them because their ex-husbands or other men of similar age tend to start the second marriage with a younger woman. So widows and single mothers need more courage and support to face this sorrowful reality and survive independently with their children in the keenly competitive society .They not only need to work hard to make ends meet, but also they need to build up a good example to their children and give them best education. A large number of widows and single mothers are the family's sole breadwinner. Many of them also shoulder the responsibility of caring for aged parents. It’s really hard to make it. Therefore, it is of vital importance to extend your helping hands to widows and single mothers in China.
